Here is a brief summary of two other R4 events that occurred during 2001.
Ile Seguin in Billancourt, Paris,
3rd August 2001
Precisely 40 years on from the first production of the R4, at least 40 Renault
4's planned to gather at the very spot of its birthplace, in front of the
old Renault plant in Billancourt, Paris. I received notification of this via
the Renault 4 mailing list (see 'R4 World', links page). If there were enough
participants there would be an invitation inside. Saturday evening there would
be a tour with all cars on the Champs Elysées and a kind of picnic at Montmartre
afterwards.
Unfortunately I have not heard any more information about this gathering. If anybody attended, I would be grateful for any news or pictures from the event. Pictures of the Ile de Seguin as it stands today can be found here.
Japanese R4 Club 10th Anniversary
Here follows two more pictures sent by Kubota Hiromichi (who I met in Holland,
see the Arnhem report). I wasn't sure exactly which event this was, but I
have since been informed by another Japanese R4 owner Takaaki, that it is
almost certainly the 'French Blue Meeting' held in 2001. The FBM event is
apparently the most popular French car meeting in Japan. It was also the 10th
birthday of Renault 4 Club Japon during 2001, and around 70 Renault 4's gathered.
