The small village of Louroux-de-Bouble in central France is the setting for this picture, taken by myself whilst on a three-week study vacation to the town of Vichy nearby. During a weekend drive around the Allier region, I happened across this old Renault 6 parked outside the village station. The R6 is almost as rare a sight now in France as the R4 is in Britain. Although this website is primarily about Renault 4s, I've always decided to include the odd 6 here and there, since it is lesser known and based largely on the R4 design, featuring most of the same components. For me, it was just the shape of the R4 which put it in a class of its own as more aesthetically fun and pleasing, but there are still many proponents of the R6 who prefer its more saloon-like qualities.

This quaint little station is still in use, and I'm fairly certain I once passed through it myself when journeying across France from Bordeaux to Lyon during my Interrail trip, though I was most likely dozing off at the time. Close to here is one of a few fantastic viaducts spanning a valley, and further notes on the whole French outing can be found in the My Pics section of this Gallery, beginning at number MP29. Just up the road from here at Coutansouze, I spotted another of many R4s seen throughout my travels, which can be found in the Pets page of the Playroom, number PE16.
