The last of the five from my friend on a work trip to Mauritania in 2012. He had to be discreet in taking these pictures, since a degree of civil unrest in the country and neighbouring Mali has led to attacks on foreigners and danger for those travelling around unaccompanied. Indeed, on the day I write this, I note that the country's president has just been accidentally shot by a military patrol who opened fire on his convoy.
