Jon Wills contributes these pictures in September 2005. This isn't the first such '50% extra free' style of R4 trailer seen on this site. Others appear here in this Gallery, with an additional saloon variation seen in the 40 years Arnhem report in the Events section. It's certainly a logical extension of the vehicle's capabilities and capacity. However, its days in the UK were numbered, as Jon explains:

'Hi there, these are pictures of my Renault 4, Renee, taken the day I got her. Bought in the South of France in 1999, the trailer was acquired after a drunken night and cost me 200FF. I sold it back to the same guy the following day for 100FF after seeing it was unusable and pretty dangerous. Still it made a good photo! I had her for 2 years in which time she twice made the long journey from the Alps to Cornwall. The amazing thing was that when I lived in the Alps and she was covered in snow for 3 months, when I uncovered her, she would start first time. This van never gave me any trouble. Due to stricter MOT laws in the UK she was forced to die in June 2001 in Cornwall. RIP.'
