Bit of a rant coming on....

You see that black thing parked next to the yellow R4? Doesn't that just typify the sort of bland crap that inhabits our roads today? You see all sorts of sad, smug gits behind the wheels of cars like this, day in day out. They all buy them for the little extra features they think are important and differentiate them from others: the air conditioning that doesn't come as standard on the version costing £100 less, the colour coded mirrors, the alloy wheels, the leather cup holder and the electric nasal hair plucker. Who cares? What a load of drivel. Face it, modern cars are rubbish, they have zero character, are full of unnecessary technology that becomes dated within a few years and renders them difficult to repair, provide the most monotonous driving experience imaginable, are virtually no different from each other and, in the case of such 'evolutionary concepts' as the New Beetle or New Mini, employ the most banal design elements to try and make them appear individual or give them retro chic, yet they fail miserably by forgetting that you have to design more than a few pathetic cosmetic changes dreamt up by an uninspired developer during their lunch break.

Okay, there's not enough R4s to go around these days and we can't all ride one, but we can at least stop buying into this dreary market of thoughtless vehicles that has invaded our world of late. Even if you hate the Renault 4, go and buy something else with a bit of personality: an old Mini, a Volvo 66, even a 1970s brown Ford Capri, anything but that black thing above or any of its counterparts. Ah well, I got that off my chest. I don't know where that came from.
