40th anniversary - Arnhem 2001: photos part 1: around the campsite

I should point out first of all that the camera I used to take all the pictures during this event appears to have a crooked lens, since many of the photos came out with the sides cut off, (the two at the bottom of this page, for instance).

That's my car below on the right. Yes, that's what it looked like throughout the event and on the drive from the UK to the Netherlands and back, as I was still in the middle of repainting it. You can also see my 'moist tent' to the right-hand side, which I shall say no more about for fear of universal mirth. Accompanying me in this shot is an R4 Savane.

Not all of the photos that I took are as bizarre as these next few, in fact the majority of those I photographed at the Openlucht Museum are quite standard, as you'll see later on. This is a rare Renault 4 Rodéo, one of two I captured at the event. The 'Renault 4 Open' website (see my R4 links page) has more info on this model. Okay, it looks almost nothing like a regular R4, but it's quite unique.

This monster was also parked in the same field as me. Quite what's going on here I don't know, perhaps the owner would like to enlighten us. The most puzzling thing about this one - for visitors to ponder over all weekend - was how you get into it, as there appeared to be no door handles on the car.
