Dave Winspear from England sent the above picture in September 2003, commenting:

'This is my son Ryan, nearly 2, circa 1990 - learning to read with his first book. Enough to make any father proud.'

Eighteen months after receiving this photo, and with no other offerings appearing in this section in the interim, Dave emailed me again with a surprise update (below). He adds:

'Hi there. I was very proud to see that my son Ryan is currently featuring as the R4 baby of the week or whatever. I thought you might like a 'then & now' comparison shot. The attached was taken today - Ryan is now 16 and I have advanced to nearly 45. As you can see - the fireplace has been replaced, and the plastic teddy plaything has probably seen a dozen car boot sales since the original shot. The Haynes manual is slightly oilier than in the original but still intact and much valued by me. Ryan won't admit it to his friends - but he still likes to snuggle down to sleep on a night with his cocoa while I describe how to re-assemble a Zenith 281F carburettor from scratch. (Page 70 - for you addicts). Keep up the good work - best web site in my favourites.'
