International Meeting of the R4 in Italy 2003
A big gathering for the R4 was planned from 30th May - 1st June 2003 in
northern Italy. I am grateful to Andrea Molinari who sent the following message:
'...with some friends i'm organizing a very big meeting in Arona, a town
near the Maggiore lake in the north of Italy...this is the poster of the meeting:'

lido holiday inn camping in Dormelletto, very close to Arona, near the beautiful
Maggiore lake, an international meeting opened to all r4 and r6. dinners,
auto's caravans and games will make unforgettable this weekend... important!
this is not a beauty contest! the cars can participate in any condition!'

Daniele, who runs the Jeune Renault 4 site, adds: 'In the city of Arona (north Italy, 70 km from Milan), organized by the Italian club "R4 Clan" will be the first italian international meeting of Renault 4, R6 and Kangoo (the young nephew of 4L!). The base of meeting will be a camping on the very beautiful shores of the "Better Lake" (Lago Maggiore), to the beginning of the Alps! There will also be the possibility of sleep in bungalow and it's possible participate with the own children. In this 3 days (and 2 nights) will be organized many trips in natural park, raid on white roads of Alps, toys and books expositions, competitions and shop renault 4. The cost will not expensive; and Arona is also attainable by train!'
You are all invited to the first international meeting-assembly 'Renault 4 and sisters' (R6 and Kangoo) organized in Italy in the splendid scenery of the better Lake (Lago Maggiore), near Piedmont and Lombardy regions, beside the Camping Beach 'Holiday Inn' of Dormelletto, in the city of Arona. The camping will be the base point of meeting for the nights and for the lunches, we'll use this space for our exposure of photos, models, films about R4. From the camping will be departed all together for discover the natural beauties of the lake, the protected park areas and the panoramas of the 'Small Alps' of Piemonte regions.
The program:
Friday: In the afternoon recording of the participants with the delivery
of the gifts and of the road book, setup in tents or bungalow. Free supper
in the centre of Arona or in the camping. After the lunch will be projection
of "remember trips by Renault 4 (and Kangoo)". In the night tasting of the
excellent Italian wine!
Saturday: Recording of the last participants with delivery of the gifts,
departure at 10.30 all together for discovery and exploration of the landscape
and panoramic points. For the lunch we could eat a "frugal lunch" or like
a picnic. In the road there will be the possibility of different runs that
depends on the conditions of your auto: a panoramic normal road or a more
difficult run like a white road. In the evening we'll return in camping for
a little time of relaxation: we will play, be present to small lessons of
mechanics, look (and buy) at the exposures of models of R4 and exchange small
pieces for adorn our auto. At 20.00 big lunch with typical Italian supper
all together to the camping and after play and projections of video, documentary
and films always about 4L!
Sunday: Recording of the last participants with delivery of the gifts
and departure at 10.00 of the last trip in the green zone, natural reserves
and to visit the attractive town of Arona with its lake front. In camping
toward 14.00 for the last lunch. After we'll deliver the prizes of contests
of beauty, originality, usury (!) and seniority of the R4 votes from you.

The prices:
2 Nights + 1 supper + 1 lunch + gifts = 40 Euros adult, 25 Euros children
(max 8 years)
1 Night + 1 supper + 1 lunch + gifts = 35 Euros adult, 20 Euros children
1 Night + 1 supper + gifts = 25 Euros adult, 13 Euros children
The nights in camping are understood to head in tents, there is also available
a bungalow with 4 or 6 places beginning from 44 Euros total per night but
you must book them in advance. It is possible to come with dogs for 3.60 Euros
per night but only in tents. The supper is at the camping on Saturday night,
the lunch is at the camping on Sunday. The gifts are: a nice surprise for
each participant, the road book for each R4, the talon remembers for the auto
and the sticker, the forms for the vote of the R4 and relative prizes, a technical
assistance of first help and logistic generic help in case of problems.
The place:
The point of reference is the modern camping Beach 'Holiday Inn', absorbed
place in the own green park on the shore of the Better Lake. In the camping
there is: cafe-restaurant, baths with hot water, tennis courts, swimming pool,
play park for children. We have also the space for car and tents, and also
a big parking for others Renault 4. The camping is to Dormelletto village,
in province of Novara city, in 'Marco Polo' street number 1, (2km south of
Arona). From the highway exit 'Castello Ticino' of the highway Number A26
(from Milan is A8) go on in Arona-Stresa direction, to 2km will be Dormelletto
village.

Important:
The meeting-assembly is open to all responsible participants on the road and
with respect for the other people in this beautiful experience. So are also
greeted all the families with children or dogs, without any problem. The assembly
is open to all Renault 4 and "sisters": R6, R8, 4Cv, with a particular invitation
to the friends of the Kangoo 4x4 (and not). The cars could approach and participate
in any state and condition, it is not a parade of beauty! It is not absolutely
a demonstration for only men, it's also an occasion for a pleasant relaxing
vacation for three days. The demonstration will be also in case of rain. And
excuse me for my incorrect English!
