World Cup Rally

Two British drivers participated in the World Cup Rally in an R4, from London to the Sahara Desert and back during September / October 2001. You can find an article here in the Star Story section.

Billancourt

A gathering was planned at Billancourt in Paris - the birthplace of the Renault 4 - in front of the old Renault plant on the Île Seguin. If enough participants showed up there would be an invitation inside. On the Saturday evening there would be a tour with all the cars on the Champs Elysées and a kind of picnic at Montmartre afterwards. I received notification of this event via an old Renault 4 mailing list, but I don't know if it ever actually took place. Please get in touch if you have any further info. The old Renault factory has since been demolished, but some pictures of the Île Seguin as it was in 2001 can be found here.

10th Anniversary of the Japanese R4 Club

Coinciding with the 40th birthday of the R4, the Japanese Renault 4 Club celebrated its tenth birthday in 2001. Below are two pictures sent by Kubota Hiromichi, one of two Japanese enthusiasts who were also at the Arnhem event. I was later informed by another Japanese R4 owner, Takaaki, that these photos are most probably taken at the 'French Blue Meeting' held in 2001. Apparently, the FBM event is the most popular French car meeting in Japan, and around seventy Renault 4s were in attendance on this occasion.
