MC194a

During another stint over in Lyon at the end of 2009, I happened across this wild beast on the night of the Fête des Lumières, during which the whole city is illuminated by residents putting candles in their windows, and by giant light installations and projections on the sides of buildings around the city. This model was found on the banks of the Saône. It brings a new meaning to the 'Renault 4 Safari' edition! My usual calling card will doubtless have suffered its usual demise in the downpour that arrived just an hour or two after I left it on the windscreen, so I'm not sure the owner will ever discover this page and the cyber-fame their car now enjoys.

I didn't examine the car in too much detail due to the distractions of countless other sights that I beheld that night in the city, but it's not the first interesting R4 I've come across in my time in Lyon. A bright pink model was seen a little further along this quay one night back in the spring, covered in publicity stickers and probably therefore another survivor of the 4L Trophy, whilst a white 4L with customized decals has been seen around Vieux Lyon and the Fourvière cathedral, including a sighting just a few days ago outside the Cathédrale St-Jean. I shall attempt to get a photo of that another day when I have a camera in hand. The next entry in this section features one other Lyonnais model spotted during my trip. This second image above features the Tour Métallique lit up on top of the hill behind, with some giant illuminated character climbing up its side.
