One of the most impressive Renault 4s seen on this site, this orange beauty has been fully restored by João Seabra in Lisbon. It has had a total overhaul of every last component, and has earned the Portuguese name of 'La Naranja Mecânica'. It is a 1973 model, which makes me jealous, as that's the year I was born, and I would dearly love to own such a lovely colourful example from that era, when the chrome trim ruled and the favourite chrome bumper adorned the front. I met João in Portugal in the summer of 2003, and although I only saw another of his Renault 4s whilst this one was still under wraps, he presented me with a CD-ROM containing well over one hundred pictures from the restoration process. Towards the end of the year another CD arrived in the post, and you can now find both their contents split across two huge articles - the restoration pictures appear in the Technique section (article number TQ7), whilst the rest show the car out and about throughout the year, before and after the transformation - see the Your Articles page for that. You can also view more photos of it on the Pets page in the Playroom (number PE8), and it rightly receives the accolade of Star Car in this Gallery (number SC18).
