Restoration of a 1973 Renault 4LC (R1125), Portugal
by João Seabra, 2003-12-10

This article provides a comprehensive set of photos spread over several pages, detailing the lavish restoration efforts of a Portuguese R4 fan. The pictures in this Technique section are focused on the repairs themselves, whilst almost one hundred more photogenic shots are housed in the Your Articles section.

During my travels around Europe in summer 2003, I met up with some of the most dedicated followers of both the Renault 4 and this website, including the Portuguese pair Fernando Palma and João Seabra in Lisbon. I travelled around the city in both of their regular Fours. However, João was keeping his special secret under wraps. He had been busy working on the meticulous restoration of a 1973 Renault 4LC, and some months later he finished the project. A few hundred photos of the car before, during and after were presented to me on CD and via email, many of which are shown on these pages.

I then received a few additional pictures of the finished article, which can be found in various other places around the Gallery (People's Pics numbers PP118 and PP125, Star Car number SC18), and the Playroom (Pets page number PE8). Those shown here cover the period from December 2002 to August 2003. Photos of a couple more lucky cars treated at the same workshop in Lisbon can also be found on the People's Pics page (numbers PP121 and PP123). The photography is by João Seabra and Fernando Palma.
