Whatever the scenario, I throw down the gauntlet to celebs the world over to get their faces on this page. And you don't have to be as well known as Marilyn Monroe to qualify. This photo comes from Julie Dinsdale, with the message: 'Hi - here's a pic of Keith Bontrager driving my Renault 4 away from the Kona 100 mountain bike race we attended in Ruthin, North Wales. Keith is famous in the cycling world as one of the pioneers of mountain biking. He currently lives and designs Bontrager wheels and components for Trek from Santa Cruz, California. Keith competes in races around the world and his wheels are ridden by the US Postal Team (including Lance Armstrong) winners of the Tour de France for the past 5 years! He loved my Renault 4 and was a happy passenger on the long drive from London to Wales, they don't have many Renault 4's in California, do they have any?! Hope you can use this in your hall of fame.'

Still short of any actual confirmed celebrity owners, though with over 8 million of the cars made, and probably at least 3 times that many owners over the years, there should surely be a well known personality or two amongst them who has at least travelled in the cars. You don't even have to have a photo - just get in touch and tell us about your experience.

I read on a Bryan Ferry (of Roxy Music fame) fan site once, that he used to either drive or ride in a Renault 4 back in the 1970's when he was gigging. And I was contacted by Phil Waters in the UK who had this to say: 'word has it that the bloke who plays phil mitchel in eastenders is or was an owner of a renault 4, as well as other classics such as vw camper, jaguar etc. the source of this information was a paper or magazine interview as read by my wife lynne. sorry no pics or other evidence. great site by the way.'

I also received this message in my inbox during late 2002 from a regular visitor and contributor to this site: 'Hi! It's Andre Barbosa from Portugal with a (not yet verified) famous driver. A fan of the famous (at least in Portugal, where they are compared to the Rolling Stones) rock band "Xutos & Pontapes" told me that its well known drummer, Kalu, owns and drives a R4. I never saw it, but if a fan who often goes to concerts and to the bar owned by Kalu (in Oporto, Portugal) tells so, I believe.'
